Los Angeles, California

This design for an accessory dwelling unit in LA’s Echo Park neighborhood turns its face away from the street in order to take advantage of break-taking views of Griffith Park. The one-bedroom upper floor is segmented by a folded roof that floats over the living spaces. This fold is then echoed in a facade treatment which lends an iconic aspect to the small space overlooking the city beyond, while also increasing the room’s footprint and providing cover for visitors.
