As a speculative new apartment rental located on the site of a single family residence, the Echo Park BnB was an experiment in maximizing living space in a confined footprint. As the area of the project was severely limited, we looked at ways of visually expanding the space by adding perspectival form and strategically placing glass and reflective surfaces.
The rear of the unit faces a valley with an unobstructed view. To capitalize on this, we moved the entry and patio to this side of the rental, leaving it wide open, yet still private. All design cues and details are pared down to their most minimal state in order to leave obvious that the space and view is the primary driver of design.
